Denise was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in March. The oncology team at Birmingham Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in June. She will be away from work for about 8 weeks. Denise is 40, worked as a farmer until March, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Birmingham Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $3,050 goes: • Transport to Birmingham Cancer Centre: $600 • Household costs while unable to work: $820 • Scans and lab work: $1,200 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $430 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
