Stop the eviction: 2 months of rent for Eva's family in Hamilton
After a delayed insurance payout, Eva is 2 months behind on rent and has a final eviction notice from the landlord.

After a sudden layoff at the restaurant, I fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Thursday a final eviction notice was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $3,200.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave.
I have two young children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working extra hours at a market stall, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $3,200 goes:
• Utilities in arrears: $175
• Late fees and court costs: $260
• Rent arrears (2 months): $2,765
Every share and every dollar helps.
