Start-up fund for Thulani: reopening a small grocery stall after a break-in
Thulani has run a small grocery stall for three years; a break-in destroyed the equipment, and $1,300 will put it back on its feet.

For three years I have run a small grocery stall in Johannesburg. In August, a break-in took a cold-storage unit. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Friday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 4 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $1,300 goes:
• Replacing a cold-storage unit: $820
• Initial stock: fresh produce: $175
• Shop repairs and licensing: $95
• Working capital for the first month: $210
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Wishing you peace, Thulani. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
Good luck, Thulani. Hope this works out for you. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
