Start-up fund for Thắng: reopening a roadside café after a storm that collapsed the roof

Thắng has run a roadside café for fifteen years; a storm that collapsed the roof destroyed the equipment, and $500 will put it back on its feet.

Hồ Chí Minh City
For fifteen years I have run a roadside café in Hồ Chí Minh City. In June, a storm that collapsed the roof took an espresso machine and grinder. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Friday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 8 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go. Where the $500 goes: • Replacing an espresso machine and grinder: $330 • Working capital for the first month: $60 • Shop repairs and licensing: $110 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Thắng

Updates from Thắng

  1. Wanted to say thank you properly. 83% funded and I made the first payment toward replacing an espresso machine and grinder.
