Start-up fund for Mekdes: reopening a flower stall after floodwater
Mekdes lost display cabinets and a cooler to floodwater and needs $450 to reopen a flower stall and support the family.

For fifteen years I have run a flower stall in Adama. In March, floodwater took display cabinets and a cooler. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Thursday, and I employed 1 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 5 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $450 goes:
• Replacing display cabinets and a cooler: $330
• Initial stock: seasonal flowers: $45
• Shop repairs and licensing: $25
• Working capital for the first month: $50
If you're reading this, thank you.

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Adama.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Mekdes!
Replacing display cabinets and a cooler is $330 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Good question.
I'd happily buy from you once you're back up. Thinking of Adama.
Take care. I hope things turn around soon. I went through something like this 7 years ago and strangers helped me out
Hang in there, Mekdes. Hope the shop reopens soon. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
Stay strong. I'd happily buy from you once you're back up. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
Sending strength, Mekdes. Your post was clear and honest. I'm in accounting myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
