Start-up fund for Lorenzo: reopening a small grocery stall after a storm that collapsed the roof

Lorenzo has run a small grocery stall for four years; a storm that collapsed the roof destroyed the equipment, and $650 will put it back on its feet.

For four years I have run a small grocery stall in Envigado. In August, a storm that collapsed the roof took a cold-storage unit. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Thursday, and I employed 1 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 12 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go. Where the $650 goes: • Initial stock: fresh produce: $200 • Replacing a cold-storage unit: $360 • Working capital for the first month: $90 Thank you so much.

Updates from Lorenzo

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($622 in total) the plan for initial stock: fresh produce is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Small update. $258 so far, I made the first payment toward replacing a cold-storage unit. - Lorenzo

  3. Quick update: $90 raised so far (14%). we've started the first stage. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

Sending love, Lorenzo. Shared it with a few friends. After 24 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care!
