Start-up fund for Lakshmi: reopening a street-food cart after a long illness and repossession
A street-food cart in Jaipur needs help replacing a gas stove and two refrigerators after a long illness and repossession.

For fifteen years I have run a street-food cart in Jaipur. In May, a long illness and repossession took a gas stove and two refrigerators. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Tuesday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 12 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $600 goes:
• Replacing a gas stove and two refrigerators: $420
• Initial stock: ingredients: $80
• Working capital for the first month: $100
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

wishing you the best. Small businesses are the heart of Jaipur. Hope you're open again soon. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
Hope this works out for you. I hope September is when things finally get easier. Take care
I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We're a small family in Haarlem but we're thinking of you.
Keep going, Lakshmi. It takes guts to ask. Well done.
