Embakasi
For four years I have run a small grocery stall in Embakasi. In August, a fire in the building took a cold-storage unit. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Wednesday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 7 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go. Where the $250 goes: • Shop repairs and licensing: $90 • Initial stock: fresh produce: $130 • Working capital for the first month: $30 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people. - Kevin

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Kevin?

Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about shop repairs and licensing, advice is welcome too. Thanks for asking.

    • a colleague of mine might know someone for this in Nairobi. I'll ask around and let you know

            • is shop repairs and licensing the biggest cost or is there more coming?

              • Kevin JumaOwnerAnswer

Sure. The biggest one is shop repairs and licensing, $90. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one.

            • Best of luck, Kevin. It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 20 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything

                • Rooting for you, Kevin. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. All the best

                    • Take care. Hope the shop reopens soon. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. God bless.
