Start-up fund for Julián: reopening a sewing studio after floodwater
A sewing studio in Rockford needs help replacing a cutting table and overlocker after floodwater.
🇺🇸 United States3,127 views
For four years I have run a sewing studio in Rockford. In August, floodwater took a cutting table and overlocker. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Friday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 4 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $3,100 goes:
• Replacing a cutting table and overlocker: $1,500
• Initial stock: fabric: $410
• Shop repairs and licensing: $460
• Working capital for the first month: $730
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Shared it with a few friends. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Love from Rio de Janeiro.
Best of luck, Julián. Shared this with my family. God bless
Wishing you the best. Hope the shop reopens soon. Wish I lived closer to Tallahassee so I could bring a meal. Take care
