Start-up fund for Julia: reopening a laundry service after a storm that collapsed the roof
Julia has run a laundry service for three years; a storm that collapsed the roof destroyed the equipment, and $2,350 will put it back on its feet.

For three years I have run a laundry service in San Francisco. In August, a storm that collapsed the roof took two washing machines and a dryer. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Tuesday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 10 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $2,350 goes:
• Replacing two washing machines and a dryer: $1,100
• Working capital for the first month: $530
• Initial stock: detergent and packaging: $720
I hope life is good to you.

Best of luck. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Love from Nairobi
Best of luck, Julia. Hope the shop reopens soon. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
