Start-up fund for Imelda: reopening a laundry service after a break-in
Imelda lost two washing machines and a dryer to a break-in and needs $750 to reopen a laundry service and support the family.

For twelve years I have run a laundry service in Davao City. In September, a break-in took two washing machines and a dryer. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Thursday, and I employed 1 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 10 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $750 goes:
• Replacing two washing machines and a dryer: $510
• Initial stock: detergent and packaging: $100
• Shop repairs and licensing: $40
• Working capital for the first month: $100
Glad we found this place.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Imelda
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. replacing two washing machines and a dryer comes first ($510) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Good question.
Hang in there, Imelda. Shared it with a few friends. Sent it to 13 people at work. Take care.
Thanks for sharing this, Imelda. Small businesses are the heart of Davao City. Hope you're open again soon. Love from Lagos.
You're not alone, Imelda. I'd happily buy from you once you're back up. I'm in social work myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Greetings from San Antonio!
