Start-up fund for Faith: reopening a barbershop after a break-in

Faith has run a barbershop for six years; a break-in destroyed the equipment, and $3,550 will put it back on its feet.

For six years I have run a barbershop in Tacoma. In April, a break-in took clippers, chairs and mirrors. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Monday, and I employed 1 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 5 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go. Where the $3,550 goes: • Replacing clippers, chairs and mirrors: $1,700 • Initial stock: supplies: $730 • Shop repairs and licensing: $680 • Working capital for the first month: $440 Thank you for reading my story.

Updates from Faith

  1. Small update. $2,219 so far, we've started the first stage.

  2. Update from Tacoma: I made the first payment toward replacing clippers, chairs and mirrors. We're at 42% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($725 in total) I made the first payment toward working capital for the first month. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
