Start-up fund for Emily: reopening a roadside café after floodwater
Emily has run a roadside café for three years; floodwater destroyed the equipment, and $1,000 will put it back on its feet.

For three years I have run a roadside café in Soweto. In July, floodwater took an espresso machine and grinder. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Wednesday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 4 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Initial stock: coffee and pastries: $185
• Replacing an espresso machine and grinder: $720
• Working capital for the first month: $95
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Shared this with my family. Thinking of Soweto!
hope it all works out. Gave what I could, wish it was more!
So sorry you're going through this. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I went through something like this 12 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Soweto
Stay strong, Emily. This could happen to any of us. Take care
