Start-up fund for Derek: reopening a laundry service after a long illness and repossession
A laundry service in Brooklyn needs help replacing two washing machines and a dryer after a long illness and repossession.

For three years I have run a laundry service in Brooklyn. In April, a long illness and repossession took two washing machines and a dryer. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Monday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 7 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $3,850 goes:
• Replacing two washing machines and a dryer: $2,050
• Initial stock: detergent and packaging: $630
• Shop repairs and licensing: $570
• Working capital for the first month: $600
Thank you for reading my story.

Wishing you the best, Derek. This could happen to any of us. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of Brooklyn.
Take care, Derek. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Put this on a community board in Tel Aviv this morning
