Charlotte
For three years I have run a laundry service in Charlotte. In August, floodwater took two washing machines and a dryer. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Wednesday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 5 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go. Where the $3,200 goes: • Replacing two washing machines and a dryer: $1,450 • Initial stock: detergent and packaging: $760 • Shop repairs and licensing: $660 • Working capital for the first month: $330 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

  1. Thank you all. We're at 3% now ($110). I'm honestly stunned. the first invoice got paid this week.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($140 in total) the plan for replacing two washing machines and a dryer is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  3. Quick update: $391 raised so far (12%). the plan for replacing two washing machines and a dryer is now scheduled. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
