Start-up fund for Carmela: reopening a sewing studio after a storm that collapsed the roof
A sewing studio in Makati needs help replacing a cutting table and overlocker after a storm that collapsed the roof.
🇵🇭 Philippines1,280 views
For fifteen years I have run a sewing studio in Makati. In August, a storm that collapsed the roof took a cutting table and overlocker. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Friday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 6 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $250 goes:
• Working capital for the first month: $50
• Initial stock: fabric: $115
• Shop repairs and licensing: $85
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Take care, Carmela. Hope you get there. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out. Love from Osaka
Thinking of you. Shared it with a few friends. I went through something like this 13 years ago and strangers helped me out.
Wishing you the best, Carmela. I'd happily buy from you once you're back up. Take care.
