Start-up fund for Aravind: reopening a bicycle repair shop after a fire in the building
Aravind lost a full set of tools to a fire in the building and needs $500 to reopen a bicycle repair shop and support the family.

For three years I have run a bicycle repair shop in Ahmedabad. In May, a fire in the building took a full set of tools. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Tuesday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 4 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $500 goes:
• Replacing a full set of tools: $340
• Initial stock: spare parts: $70
• Shop repairs and licensing: $45
• Working capital for the first month: $45
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Aravind
It's all in the list in the story. replacing a full set of tools is the big one at $340, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. I'll keep the page updated.
hang in there. This could happen to any of us. I'll check back for the next update
shared this with my family. Wish I lived closer to Mecca so I could bring a meal. Blessings.
sending love. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Take care.
Wishing you the best, Aravind. Your post was clear and honest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Take care
