Eldoret
Waweru was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in February. The oncology team at Eldoret Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in May. He will be away from work for about 10 weeks. Waweru is 41, worked as a bus conductor until February, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Eldoret Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $1,900 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,100 • Scans and lab work: $150 • Transport to Eldoret Cancer Centre: $125 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $150 • Household costs while unable to work: $375 Thanks for reading all this. - Irene
