Wangari was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in June. The oncology team at Arusha Regional Medical Center has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in September. She will be away from work for about 5 weeks.
Wangari is 50, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Arusha Regional Medical Center 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Transport to Arusha Regional Medical Center: $65
• Household costs while unable to work: $175
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $620
• Scans and lab work: $240
