Standing with Sandra: thyroid cancer treatment costs

Sandra was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in January. The oncology team at the Accra Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in May. She will be away from work for about 3 weeks. Sandra is 32, worked as a bus conductor until January, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Accra Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
