Standing with Ruby: early-stage lung cancer treatment costs
Ruby is facing early-stage lung cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Ruby was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer in January. The oncology team at San Antonio Regional Medical Center has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in March. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks.
Ruby is 38, worked as a taxi driver until January, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to San Antonio Regional Medical Center 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $8,150 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $4,450
• Scans and lab work: $1,200
• Transport to San Antonio Regional Medical Center: $1,150
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $590
• Household costs while unable to work: $760
