Standing with Rubina: acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatment costs
8 rounds of treatment are planned at Karachi Cancer Centre; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.

In February I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. My oncology team at Karachi Cancer Centre has planned 8 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in May. I was told to expect about 12 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 55, I worked as a hairdresser until February, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Karachi Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $950 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $560
• Transport to Karachi Cancer Centre: $115
• Household costs while unable to work: $275
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
