Ricardo is facing acute lymphoblastic leukemia and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In January I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. My oncology team at Alcalá de Henares Cancer Centre has planned 4 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in April. I was told to expect about 12 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 34, I worked as a farmer until January, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Alcalá de Henares Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $2,250 goes:
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,250
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $230
• Transport to Alcalá de Henares Cancer Centre: $770
