Renata was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in May. The oncology team at Caruaru University Hospital has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in August. She will be away from work for about 10 weeks.
Renata is 38, worked as a bus conductor until May, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Caruaru University Hospital 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Household costs while unable to work: $510
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $260
• Transport to Caruaru University Hospital: $280
• Scans and lab work: $200
