In August I was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. My oncology team at Fresno University Hospital has planned 8 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in November. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 57, I worked as a hairdresser until August, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Fresno University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $7,750 goes: • Scans and lab work: $1,500 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $630 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $4,600 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,020 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to. - Ramon
