Standing with Ramón: acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatment costs
10 rounds of treatment are planned at Columbus University Hospital; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.

In September I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. My oncology team at Columbus University Hospital has planned 10 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in October. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 48, I worked as a cleaner at a hospital until September, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Columbus University Hospital 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $11,650 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $8,000
• Scans and lab work: $940
• Transport to Columbus University Hospital: $620
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $280
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,810
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
