Özlem was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in July. The oncology team at Üsküdar University Hospital has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in October. She will be away from work for about 7 weeks. Özlem is 52, worked as a nurse until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Üsküdar University Hospital 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.       Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. chemotherapy and medication not covered comes first ($1,250) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Good question.
