Standing with Nalini: kidney cancer treatment costs
Nalini is facing kidney cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Nalini was diagnosed with kidney cancer in June. The oncology team at Johannesburg Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in August. She will be away from work for about 7 weeks.
Nalini is 52, worked as a nurse until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Johannesburg Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $2,950 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,000
• Scans and lab work: $200
• Transport to Johannesburg Cancer Centre: $170
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $200
• Household costs while unable to work: $380
