Mwangi was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in April. The oncology team at Entebbe Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in July. He will be away from work for about 3 weeks. Mwangi is 54, worked as a primary school teacher until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Entebbe Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,400 goes: • Scans and lab work: $195 • Transport to Entebbe Cancer Centre: $140 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $830 • Household costs while unable to work: $235 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
