Standing with Mateo: multiple myeloma treatment costs

Mateo is facing multiple myeloma and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In July I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. My oncology team at San Francisco Regional Medical Center has planned 6 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in November. I was told to expect about 5 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 34, I worked as a shop owner until July, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to San Francisco Regional Medical Center 3 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $3,250 goes: • Transport to San Francisco Regional Medical Center: $610 • Scans and lab work: $1,850 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $790 Glad we found this place. - Mateo

Sending love, Mateo. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I hope October is when things finally get easier. Blessings.
