Standing with Manuel: stomach cancer treatment costs

Manuel is facing stomach cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Manuel was diagnosed with stomach cancer in April. The oncology team at the Bogotá Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in July. He will be away from work for about 7 weeks. Manuel is 24, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Bogotá Oncology Institute 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,150 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,250 • Scans and lab work: $220 • Transport to the Bogotá Oncology Institute: $200 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $195 • Household costs while unable to work: $285 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
