Standing with Luís: acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatment costs
Supporting Luís through acute lymphoblastic leukemia: medication, transport to São Paulo Regional Medical Center, and living costs while He can't work.
🇧🇷 São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil1,175 views
Luís was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in January. The oncology team at São Paulo Regional Medical Center has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in March. He will be away from work for about 5 weeks.
Luís is 34, worked as a farmer until January, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to São Paulo Regional Medical Center 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $3,500 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,150
• Scans and lab work: $500
• Transport to São Paulo Regional Medical Center: $220
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $110
• Household costs while unable to work: $520

Your post was clear and honest. I went through something like this 14 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of São Paulo.
So sorry you're going through this, Elaine. This could happen to any of us. My sister had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. All the best!
You're not alone. Wishing Luís a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Put this on a community board in Dhaka this morning. Blessings.
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Put this on a community board in Pune this morning.
wishing you peace, Elaine. Hope the doctors have good news. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Blessings.
