Standing with Lilian: thyroid cancer treatment costs
8 rounds of treatment are planned at Entebbe Cancer Centre; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.

In July I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. My oncology team at Entebbe Cancer Centre has planned 8 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in October. I was told to expect about 7 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 42, I worked as a farmer until July, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Entebbe Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,200 goes:
• Scans and lab work: $135
• Transport to Entebbe Cancer Centre: $95
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $970

your post was clear and honest. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Take care.
Rooting for you. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Entebbe
Sending love. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Love from Munich.
Sending love, Lilian. Get well soon. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Greetings from Warri
Hope this works out for you. Wish I lived closer to Epe so I could bring a meal.
