Standing with Jung-hee: non-Hodgkin lymphoma treatment costs
Jung-hee is facing non-Hodgkin lymphoma and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.
🇰🇷 Daegu, Daegu, South Korea1,167 views
Jung-hee was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in July. The oncology team at Daegu University Hospital has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in October. She will be away from work for about 6 weeks.
Jung-hee is 27, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Daegu University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $3,950 goes:
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,100
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $350
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,850
• Transport to Daegu University Hospital: $650
With deep gratitude,
Jung-ho

You're not alone, Jung-ho. I hope things turn around soon. All the best
Is there anything that isn't money that would help Jung-hee?
Thank you. If you're in Daegu I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Thanks for asking.
Hope things get better soon, Jung-ho. This could happen to any of us. Wish I lived closer to Bang Khen so I could bring a meal. Thinking of Daegu.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Jung-hee.
Sure. The biggest one is household costs while unable to work, $1,100. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Good question.
Good luck. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. Don't give up. Blessings

How is Jung-hee doing now?
hang in there. Hope the doctors have good news. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Daegu.
Thinking of you. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. After 14 years in engineering I know how hard it is to ask for anything. Greetings from Auckland.
take care. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My sister had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
hope things get better soon. Wishing Jung-hee a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
