Joseph was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in November. The oncology team at San Francisco Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in February. He will be away from work for about 7 weeks.
Joseph is 33, worked as a hairdresser until November, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to San Francisco Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $3,300 goes:
• Scans and lab work: $1,650
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $800
• Household costs while unable to work: $850
