Jack was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in July. The oncology team at Huntsville Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 12 weeks.
Jack is 53, worked as a tailor until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Huntsville Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $8,400 goes:
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $800
• Transport to Huntsville Cancer Centre: $870
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,500
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,230
