In April I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My oncology team at Corpus Christi University Hospital has planned 6 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in June. I was told to expect about 5 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 25, I worked as a hairdresser until April, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Corpus Christi University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $9,300 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,000 • Transport to Corpus Christi University Hospital: $950 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,700 • Scans and lab work: $1,650 Every share and every dollar helps.
