Hendrik was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma in June. The oncology team at Sandton Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in August. He will be away from work for about 4 weeks. Hendrik is 42, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Sandton Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $3,050 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,900 • Scans and lab work: $175 • Transport to Sandton Cancer Centre: $250 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $125 • Household costs while unable to work: $600 Please ask me anything in the questions section.
