Standing with Ghada: thyroid cancer treatment costs
8 rounds of treatment are planned at the Luxor Oncology Institute; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.
🇪🇬 Luxor, Luxor, Egypt432 views
Ghada was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in January. The oncology team at the Luxor Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in April. She will be away from work for about 3 weeks.
Ghada is 51, worked as a bank teller until January, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Luxor Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $600 goes:
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $120
• Transport to the Luxor Oncology Institute: $65
• Household costs while unable to work: $230
• Scans and lab work: $185
Thank you so much.

Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Luxor.
Thank you. If you're in Luxor I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Appreciate you taking the time.
You're not alone. I hope things turn around soon. Please keep us posted. Take care.
any update on how things are going in Luxor?
You're not alone, Salim. Your post was clear and honest. God bless.
Wishing you the best, Salim. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.
Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. After 12 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from Fresno.
