Standing with Gerald: multiple myeloma treatment costs
Gerald is facing multiple myeloma and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.
🇵🇭 Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines1,294 views
Gerald was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in September. The oncology team at the Manila Oncology Institute has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in October. He will be away from work for about 3 weeks.
Gerald is 37, worked as a taxi driver until September, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Manila Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Transport to the Manila Oncology Institute: $165
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $920
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $65
• Scans and lab work: $100

Hang in there. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too
hope it all works out, Leo. This could happen to any of us. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Blessings
Take care, Leo. Hope you get there. Put this on a community board in San Francisco this morning. All the best.
