Standing with Fikru: a rare sarcoma treatment costs
Fikru is facing a rare sarcoma and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Fikru was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma in August. The oncology team at Addis Ababa Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 8 weeks.
Fikru is 49, worked as a nurse until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Addis Ababa Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $300 goes:
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $45
• Transport to Addis Ababa Cancer Centre: $100
• Scans and lab work: $155
