Standing with Eleanor: thyroid cancer treatment costs

Eleanor was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in August. The oncology team at the Geelong Oncology Institute has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in November. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks. Eleanor is 42, worked as a nurse until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Geelong Oncology Institute 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
