Standing with Doris: kidney cancer treatment costs
Supporting Doris through kidney cancer: medication, transport to the Brisbane Oncology Institute, and living costs while She can't work.
🇦🇺 Brisbane, Queensland, Australia416 views
Doris was diagnosed with kidney cancer in April. The oncology team at the Brisbane Oncology Institute has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in July. She will be away from work for about 8 weeks.
Doris is 50, worked as a bus conductor until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Brisbane Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $7,300 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $6,000
• Transport to the Brisbane Oncology Institute: $530
• Scans and lab work: $770
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
