Dar es Salaam
Dorcas was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in August. The oncology team at Dar es Salaam Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in November. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks. Dorcas is 40, worked as a nurse until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Dar es Salaam Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $1,500 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,050 • Scans and lab work: $185 • Transport to Dar es Salaam Cancer Centre: $65 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $45 • Household costs while unable to work: $155 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
