In December I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. My oncology team at Gaziantep University Hospital has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in March. I was told to expect about 3 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 37, I worked as a taxi driver until December, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Gaziantep University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,350 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,850 • Household costs while unable to work: $250 • Scans and lab work: $250 Please ask me anything in the questions section.
