Standing with Brian: stomach cancer treatment costs
6 rounds of treatment are planned at Birmingham University Hospital; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.
Anywhere in the world650 views
Brian was diagnosed with stomach cancer in August. The oncology team at Birmingham University Hospital has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 4 weeks.
Brian is 38, worked as a bakery worker until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Birmingham University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $9,500 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $7,750
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $620
• Scans and lab work: $720
• Transport to Birmingham University Hospital: $410
Thanks for being kind about this.
