Standing with Brett: acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatment costs
Brett is facing acute lymphoblastic leukemia and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.
🇿🇦 South Africa508 views
Brett was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in January. The oncology team at Pretoria Regional Medical Center has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in April. He will be away from work for about 7 weeks.
Brett is 54, worked as a bus conductor until January, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Pretoria Regional Medical Center 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Transport to Pretoria Regional Medical Center: $210
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $120
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,100
• Household costs while unable to work: $220
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Is transport to Pretoria Regional Medical Center the biggest cost or is there more coming?
Hang in there, Fiona. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My sister had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care.
So sorry you're going through this. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I'm in hospitality myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. God bless.
Hope things get better soon, Fiona. Your post was clear and honest. Greetings from Los Angeles
Sending good thoughts, Fiona. Hope this works out for you. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
