Brendan was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in June. The oncology team at the Limerick Oncology Institute has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in October. He will be away from work for about 4 weeks.
Brendan is 37, worked as a bank teller until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Limerick Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $3,550 goes:
• Scans and lab work: $1,450
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,800
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $300
