Bello was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in September. The oncology team at the Lagos Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 12 weeks. Bello is 50, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until September, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Lagos Oncology Institute 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
