Anele was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in July. The oncology team at Paarl University Hospital has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in November. She will be away from work for about 3 weeks.
Anele is 38, worked as a farmer until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Paarl University Hospital 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $2,300 goes:
• Household costs while unable to work: $290
• Transport to Paarl University Hospital: $210
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,700
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $100
